Welcome to the Honda Spacy Page. Described variously as the “scoot that really does” and “the worlds fastest tea-trolly”, the Spacy was an excellent commuting vehicle. It had very good acceleration (better than many of its more modern, but heavier successors) and was very easy to ride.

First introduced in 1985, it was substantially updated in 1989 to make room for helmet storage under the seat - the earlier models only having the glove compartment for storage. The model ceased production in 1990.

Note that in parts of the world (notably the U.S.A) the Spacy was also called the Elite. It’s model number was CH250.

My Spacy

I purchased my Spacy in 1997. It was my first motorcycle and I chose it for three reasons:

It was the 1985 model with the digital speedometer and disk front brake and I purchased it second hand from a dealer for $A3000. It had the factory windscreen but no top box. My only modification was to add some luggage - firstly a Ventura bag and later a lockable Nonfango top box.

In October 1999 my Spacy was involved in a freak “guy in front of me reversed over my bike” accident whilst I was waiting at some traffic lights. Luckily the damage was restricted to the front plastic fairing and the sub frame supporting it, so after a bit of brute force bending, pop-riveting and gluing, it is back on the road. In the meantime I purchased a new Honda FES250 Foresight - but that’s another story….
